Layton Exclusif opens with bergamot, pink pepper and cardamom, providing a bright but spicy introduction before quickly becoming darker and denser. The freshness is much less dominant than in original Layton, giving Exclusif a richer personality almost immediately.

The heart introduces lavender, lavandin and geranium, maintaining some of the aromatic DNA that makes Layton recognizable while transitioning into the heavier woody base.

The drydown is where Layton Exclusif separates itself. Oud, sandalwood, patchouli and leather create a deep, smoky and slightly animalic foundation. Parfums de Marly describes Exclusif as a more powerful interpretation of Layton with pronounced woody and animalic characteristics. 

Compared with original Layton, Exclusif is noticeably darker, woodier, smokier and less sweet. Original Layton emphasizes its fruity-aromatic amber character, while Exclusif moves deeper into oud, leather and woods. If Layton is the versatile crowd-pleaser, Exclusif is its more mature and assertive counterpart.
